Investigators at Fort Rucker and the Dale County sheriff's office are probing the death of a five-month-old boy.

Dale County Coroner Woody Hilboldt said Dedrick Fisher Jr., died Monday at Dale Medical Center.

According to Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson, the investigation was launched after the child was admitted to a Birmingham hospital in Nov.

Olson said no charges have been filed. But the Dothan Eagle reports that Army Specialist Dedrick Fisher Sr., the infant's father, was named a person of interest.

The baby's death prompted the Ala. Department of Human Resources to remove a 2-year-old child from the Fisher residence.
