A man who told police someone hit in the head with a baseball bat in a fit of road rage remains hospitalized at Tuscaloosa's DCH Regional Medical Center.
Tuscaloosa Police Capt. Loyd Baker said the victim who was lying on the side of U.S. Highway 11 in Vance regained consciousness when officers approached Sunday.
Tuscaloosa Police Capt. Greg Kosloss said Tuesday the man suffered bleeding on his brain and underwent surgery.
He was admitted in serious condition.
The victim told officers he had inadvertently pulled out in front of another vehicle at the intersection of Highway 11 and High Road. He pulled to the shoulder to allow the vehicle to pass because the driver had begun to tailgate.
Police said the unknown assailant hit the victim and left the scene.
