N Ala. teacher charged with assault on educator


A suspended Brooks High School history teacher has been charged with second-degree assault in a fight with a school administrator in Lauderdale County.

Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly said 57-year-old Allen Wilson was indicted by a grand jury Thursday. He is accused of hitting Denny Belew before classes began Feb. 6 at the Allen Thornton Career Technical Center, where Belew is the administrator.

Wilson turned himself in at the Lauderdale County Detention Center, where he posted a $5,000 bail and was released.

A message left for Wilson was not immediately returned Friday. He has said he feels he will be vindicated. Both educators were were suspended with pay.
