Georgia transportation officials kick off public meetings on a plan to convert Gwinnett's carpool lanes on I-85 to toll lanes.
Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope says officials want to know if people will pay for an easier route through traffic. She expects up to 1,000 people total at the five meetings along the I-85 corridor.
The meetings begin Thursday at 5 p.m. at Gwinnett Civic Center.
On March 31, the locations are Gwinnett Fire Academy in Dacula and Senior Connections in Chamblee, both at 5 p.m.
The April 2 meeting site is Ashiana's Banquet Hall in Global Mall in Norcross at 5 p.m.; and April 4 at 10 a.m. at Discovery Mills Mall in Lawrenceville.
