Mobile County officials say it could cost $50,000 and take two weeks to repair a flood-damaged section of Old Pascagoula Road. Gushing floodwaters ripped a gaping hole in the road that swallowed two small trucks earlier this week. People in the vehicles escaped harm.

Now the road damage is causing major headaches for Old Pascagoula Road residents forced to detour.

Across the county, flood damage to roads is mounting, along with the price tag for repairs of nearly $200,000. County spokeswoman Nancy Johnson says Old Pascagoula Road alone will probably cost about $50,000 to fix.

Road crews said first all of the water has go away.
