Augusta voters to decide sales tax

Early voting gets under way in Augusta for the June 16 special election to decide the outcome of a special-purpose sales tax referendum.

Municipal voters can cast advance ballots starting Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Board of Elections office; 67 percent of the proposed $184.7 million levy would be earmarked for infrastructure improvements.

The early voting period ends June 5.
