Fairhope's city council voted to reject the mayor's veto of a 2-cent sales tax approved by the council two weeks ago. Council president Debbie Quinn changed her position and voted for the veto override Monday night. It's the city's first sales tax in its 100-year history and goes into effect soon.
Mayor Tim Kant had urged a reduction in city expenses before approving a sales tax.
