Authorities in south Alabama are on the lookout for an armed man who robbed the First National Bank and Trust in Atmore. The robbery occurred Tuesday around 3:30 p.m.

Atmore Public Safety Director Glenn Carlee identified the suspect as 30-year-old Chad Floyd Jeter, a resident of the Canoe community in rural Escambia County.

Carlee said Jeter fled with an undetermined amount of currency in a white GMC pickup truck with a camper shell.

Carlee said police agencies in Southeast Ala. were alerted because Jeter left a note in which he threatened to carry out a killing spree at a military base. He is considered armed and dangerous.
