Man sought in Atmore bank robbery issues threat

Authorities in south Alabama are on the lookout for an armed man who robbed the First National Bank and Trust in Atmore. The robbery occurred Tuesday around 3:30 p.m.

Atmore Public Safety Director Glenn Carlee identified the suspect as 30-year-old Chad Floyd Jeter, a resident of the Canoe community in rural Escambia County.

Carlee said Jeter fled with an undetermined amount of currency in a white GMC pickup truck with a camper shell.

Carlee said police agencies in Southeast Ala. were alerted because Jeter left a note in which he threatened to carry out a killing spree at a military base. He is considered armed and dangerous.
