Alabama is among 45 states participating in a nationwide campaign to protect citizens from fraudulent charities.

Attorney General Troy King said Wednesday Operation False Charity was organized to combat bogus charitable solicitors who claim to help police, firefighters and veterans.

King said Alabamians to report questionable solicitations by calling toll free 1-800-392-5658 or through the Attorney General's web page at www.ago.alabama.gov.
