63 cases of swine flu now confirmed in Alabama

Alabama health officials say the swine flu virus is still circulating in the state, with symptoms being reported as recently as last week.

Health officials say the number of confirmed cases in the state has grown to 63 and that number remained unchanged Thursday. Three other cases are probable.

A case was found in Lee County for the first time and the virus has also been identified in Blount, Etowah, Jefferson, Limestone, Mobile, Montgomery, Pike and Shelby counties.

Madison County residents have been affected by the virus more than any other county, with 35 cases being confirmed there. The virus has been found in people ranging from seven weeks of age to 41 years old.
