BAY MINETTE, Ala. (AP) -- A Bay Minette man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking cocaine.
Baldwin County District Attorney Hallie Dixon said Monday that she asked for the maximum sentence for 36-year-old Alimireo Felix English. English pleaded guilty in March just as attorneys were set to deliver closing arguments after a three-day trial.
He received the life sentence for the trafficking charge and another 40 years for a distribution charge.
Authorities say they found an "extraordinary" amount of cocaine, other drugs and drug dealing equipment in English's home. Dixon said English also had prior offenses on his record.
