MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- The Alabama Media Group announced it has chosen Michelle Jones to oversee its community news operations in Mobile.
The 39-year-old Jones is currently content director for Raycom Media's Digital Hub in Montgomery, where she oversees 42 websites. Raycom owns or provides services for 48 television stations in 36 markets and 18 states.
The Alabama Media Group publishes the Press-Register of Mobile, The Birmingham News, The Huntsville Times, The Mississippi Press, and the al.com and gulflive.com websites.
The company's vice president of content, Kevin Wendt, said Jones (http://bit.ly/LOIwNw ) adds a deep digital background to the leadership team. Jones previously worked as business editor for the Pensacola News-Journal and metro editor for the Montgomery Advertiser.
The company recently announced Staci Brooks would direct its Birmingham hub and Anthony Cook its Huntsville hub.
