GULF SHORES, Ala. (AP) -- A south Alabama zoo will be the new home of a pet deer that traveled miles to get back to its human family after being confiscated by the state.
WKRG-TV reports that the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo in Gulf Shores is taking the deer called "Bambi" from the family of Kenneth Webster of Wilmer. Webster says he's happy the deer will be well cared for.
Webster found the animal on a roadside four years ago after its mother was killed. His family kept the doe and raised it to adulthood.
The state confiscated and relocated the deer because it's illegal to keep wild animals in Alabama. But Bambi journeyed miles to get back to the Webster family.
Webster's family can now visit the deer at its new zoo home.
