FORT MITCHELL, Ala. (AP) -- Authorities in eastern Alabama say a body pulled from the Chattahoochee River was that of a Fort Benning Soldier.
The Ledger-Enquirer of Columbus reports Fort Benning officials Monday confirmed a soldier's body was removed from a portion of the river near River Bend Park in Fort Mitchell, Ala. Sunday afternoon. The park is near Lawson Army Airfield, which is affiliated with Fort Benning.
Authorities say the soldier's name will be released after next of kin notification.
Fort Mitchell is about 10 miles southeast of Columbus, Ga.
