Cop Shoots Fleeing Thieves in Busy Parking Lot

MIRAMAR, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say thieves stole some televisions from a South Florida Target store and then tried to run over a police officer who tried to stop them in a busy parking lot.
Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues says the officer pulled the car over in the Chili's restaurant parking lot Wednesday night. She says the officer thought they were going to run over him during the traffic stop, so he fired multiple shots at the fleeing vehicle.
Miami television station WFOR reports officers don't believe anyone was struck by the bullets.
Police eventually took three people into custody and were still looking for another suspect late Wednesday.
The two television sets the suspects took from Target were in the car when they were arrested.
