DELEON SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say a gun-wielding man was fatally shot when he refused to drop his rifle as deputies were serving a search warrant at a central Florida home.
The shooting happened just before 6 a.m. Thursday in DeLeon Springs.
A Volusia County Sheriff's SWAT team was going room-to-room in the house when the man confront one of the deputies in a second floor bedroom. The deputy shot the man when he didn't drop the rifle.
Authorities have not released the name of the suspect. They say 36-year-old Deputy Benyamin Yisrael has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
