POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- South Florida authorities are investigating the death of a scuba diver who was rushed to a hospital after a deep dive.
Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright says the 49-year-old woman was on a private boat Monday with five other adults in her dive team.
The divers were exploring a wreck when one of them spotted Robyn Spalter of Hollywood. The sheriff's office says Spalter was unresponsive when she was found near the top of the wreck, about 116 feet below the surface.
The boat radioed the Coast Guard for help. A sheriff's office vessel escorted the boat to Hillsboro Inlet.
Coleman-Wright says Spalter died at a hospital shortly before 9 a.m.
The sheriff's office says foul play is not suspected.
