Florida Bear Activity

LAKE MARY, Fla Wildlife officials are warning residents to watch out for bears on the move, particularly after a central Florida woman was attacked by a bear outside her home.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says bears are leaving their winter dens and looking for food. Their increased activity means it's more likely to spot bears in neighborhoods.
Lt. Jeff Hudson says a 45-year-old woman encountered a bear Saturday night outside her Lake Mary home.
Seminole County Fire Rescue officials say the woman came upon five bears looking in the trash near her garage, and she couldn't get around them. They say she got cornered by some bushes, and she was bitten on her head and arm. She was treated at a hospital and released.
