CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) -- Police say Lydia Jermann was last seen sleeping in her bed at the Highland Terrace Assisted Living Facility early Monday. They say Jermann had dementia and used a walker to get around.
While the retirement home is not a locked-down facility, officials say Jermann usually checks out when she leaves. The Tampa Bay Times reports she didn't tell anyone she was leaving on Monday and was reported missing about 2 p.m.
Authorities say a detective found the woman's body about 4:30 p.m. at a creek about a half-mile from the home.
The medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy.
