ATLANTA (AP) -- Atlanta Public Schools officials say a student has been hospitalized after being attacked by dogs on a campus football field.
Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones says several pit bulls mauled at least one student at Carver High School in southeast Atlanta Monday afternoon.
Atlanta Public Schools spokeswoman Kimberly Willis Green says a girl suffered bite wounds to her face and has been taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
The incident prompted a lockdown, which had been lifted as of 3 p.m EST. Green says the attack will not disrupt student dismissal.
It's unclear who the dogs belonged to, or how they got onto the football field. Additional information was not immediately available.
