ATLANTA (AP) -- Authorities say a Georgia Tech student shot an intruder who broke into a house near the Atlanta campus.
Police say the shooting happened around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at a house near the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Atlanta police Capt. Adam Lee tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that three male Georgia Tech students were asleep inside their home on Curran Street off 10th Street when an intruder broke through a front window of the house.
Lee said one of the residents, a first-year graduate student, was awakened by the shattering glass and grabbed a handgun.
Police say the student shot 22-year-old Adam Keller once in the chest. Keller was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and was in stable condition. Police say Keller had earlier entered a nearby home uninvited.
