PLAINS, Ga. (AP) -- The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site is set to join other National Parks to celebrate National Parks week.
Officials say admission to the historic site is free during the celebration, which runs from April 20 to April 28.
The event features Junior Ranger Day, which invites children ages 4 to 14 to become junior park rangers and register for a junior ranger gift pack that will be given away April 28.
Every afternoon, the event will feature a "Walk off Your Lunch" gathering, inviting participants to take a 2-mile walk beginning at 12:30 p.m. in Plains -- about 55 miles southeast of Columbus.
On April 27, visitors will be invited to volunteer in the park and participate in an organized bike ride between historic sites.
