A Florida Keys judge has overturned the state's ban on gay marriage.
But State Attorney General Pam Bondi is already appealing the decision. The ruling would have allowed same sex couples to be married in Monroe County only. LGBT rights group "Equality Florida" was hopeful the ruling would stick.
"This isn't the only case in the process, so things will be changing. The logical next step is that, if Pam didn't appeal it, they'd open up marriage all across the state but I can't tell you for sure that will be the answer," Jim Van Riper of Equality Florida said.
The appeal means no marriage licenses will be handed out yet. The case will now be turned over to an appellate court.
