Life in Prison for Man Accused in Mom's Death

SEMINOLE, Fla. (AP) -- A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2010 death of his mother in Seminole.
Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Nancy Moate Ley issued the ruling Thursday morning.
Jurors last week convicted Kevin Kyne of killing 49-year-old Diane Kyne by either strangling or smothering her. Authorities say she was unhappy her son didn't have a job and had set a deadline for him to move out of her home.
The Tampa Bay Times reports Kyne's defense attorneys suggested during the trial that the man's stepfather killed Diane Kyne to collect on an insurance policy. But prosecutors pointed to evidence, including drops of Kevin Kyne's blood, on his mother's leg.
William Kyne testified he saw his stepson on top of Diane Kyne, smothering her.
