ATHENS, Ga Athens-Clarke County police say Christopher Lee Porterfield of Danielsville fell four stories, struck a concrete retaining wall and landed on a ground-floor patio Thursday morning.
Porterfield was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center. Police describe his injuries as not life-threatening.
An officer began following the man's car shortly after 5 a.m. Authorities say he entered the deck and sped to its highest level, got out and jumped from a ledge. Police said Senior Officer Jimmy King reached out in an unsuccessful attempt to grab Porterfield to keep him from jumping.
