DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A central Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend.
A Volusia County judge sentenced 61-year-old Joseph Matassa on Thursday after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder.
Authorities say Matassa stabbed 55-year-old Pam Corte five times in February 2011. He was reportedly angry that she was seeing another man. He was later arrested in Jacksonville, following a police chase that ended with him crashing through a fence at Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
