Man's Body Pulled From South Florida Canal

PLANTATION, Fla. (AP) -- Police are investigating after a man's body was pulled from a South Florida canal.
The South Florida SunSentinel reports a witness called 911 shortly after 7 a.m. Monday after seeing a man "thrashing" in the canal.
Plantation Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Joel Gordon says they initially thought a car had gone into the canal but no vehicles were found in the water or nearby.
Gordon says the drowning man was from nearby Lauderdale Lakes. He had his identification with him but authorities have not released his name.
No further details were immediately available.
