Merle Haggard to Return to Macon After Illness

MACON, Ga. (AP) -- Country music icon Merle Haggard plans to return to Macon to make up a concert he canceled after becoming ill and recovering in a hospital in the central Georgia city.
Haggard is scheduled to perform the make-up show Wednesday at the Macon City Auditorium.
The 75-year-old musician spent about a week at the Medical Center of Central Georgia with double pneumonia. While there, doctors discovered three stomach ulcers and eight polyps in his colon.
The "Okie from Muskogee" singer was diagnosed with lung cancer a few years ago, but recovered after part of his lung was removed.
