MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- A missing crew member from a ship that was preparing to enter the port of Mobile was located when he walked into the Mobile office of the vessel's shipping agent.
The Coast Guard launched the search Monday for the crew member after he was reported missing aboard the Singapore-flagged container ship MSC Tokyo.
Coast Guard spokesman Lt. j.g. Timothy Williams said the crew member from the Philippines walked into the shipping agent's office Wednesday and told authorities he had fallen off the boat and swam to shore. The crew member's name has not been released. He is being questioned by border patrol agents.
After receiving reports of the missing man, the Coast Guard and local rescues units launched a search of the Gulf of Mexico and Mobile Bay.
