ATLANTA (AP) -- Authorities say an East Point firefighter died when he crashed his motorcycle in northwest Atlanta.
Police said 47-year-old Carl Blake hit the curb Monday night, flew off his motorcycle and hit a utility pole. Authorities say Blake was wearing a helmet, but it came off when he hit the pole.
Blake died at the scene. Police are investigating the incident.
East Point Fire Chief Rosemary R. Cloud said Blake had been with the department for 15 years and was a model firefighter.
