Nelson Releases First Aid in Senate Re-Election Bid

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson will begin airing the first ad in his re-election campaign.
The multi-week ad buy will cover most of the state and begin running Thursday.
It re-introduces Nelson to voters, showing photos of him growing up, in college, in the Army and at his wedding. It notes he's still married to Grace 40 years later.
It also says he exposed BP's lies after the Gulf oil spill and that he stood up to insurance companies and Wall Street banks. Nelson was one of only nine Democrats who voted against the 2008 $700 billion Wall Street bailout.
The ad also shows the words faith, fairness and responsibility as it shows Nelson with children, seniors and others. It ends with the line, "Fighting for Florida. Always has, always will."
