DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) -- Outside construction of a new medical school building in Dothan is mostly completed as work continues inside.
The Dothan Eagle reports that three 24-unit apartment buildings are also being constructed on the east Dothan campus of the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. Officials say almost all of the units have already been reserved and should be available for move-in before August.
The hope is that the college's inaugural class will graduate in May 2017. The class is expected to include about 150 students from around the country who chose to begin their medical education in Dothan.
College officials have been sorting through more than 2,700 applications for admission, faculty and staff have been finalizing curriculum and workers have been installing and checking equipment.
