Overall Florida Scores Stagnant on SAT College Exam

MIAMI (AP) -- Florida's college-bound seniors posted mostly stagnant scores on the latest SAT.
Scores on the college entrance exam were one point lower in critical reading and writing than in 2011. They were the same in math.
Those results mirrored trends seen in the national scores as well.
The Florida Department of Education noted students at public schools increased their mean score in every subject area, and that the state's Hispanic students scored higher than others nationwide. Black students also increased their critical reading scores.
Gaps between white, black and Hispanic students, however, remain sharp. Hispanic students in public schools had a mean score in critical reading that was nearly 50 points lower than white students. For black students the reading gap with white students was 86 points.
