SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- Investigators shut down part of Interstate 95 in Chatham County to reconstruct a crash that killed a sheriff's deputy.
WTOC-TV reports that the northbound interstate was down to one lane Wednesday morning near Savannah as authorities investigated the Friday head-on crash that claimed the life of Bryan County sheriff's deputy Robert Crapse of Ellabell.
The Savannah Morning News reports that several motorists called 911 to report a car traveling the wrong direction at a high rate of speed on I-95 just before the wreck early Friday morning.
Hundreds of family members, friends and fellow law enforcement officials gathered Tuesday for the fallen deputy's funeral. Law enforcement officials from across Georgia and the Carolinas also attended the funeral to pay their respects.
