Police Captain Fired

DOTHAN, Ala A former high-ranking Dothan police officer has appealed his firing.
Keith Gray has appealed his Sept. 23 termination. Gray had worked for the Dothan Police Department for 28 years and had reached the rank of captain.
City personnel director Delvick McKay says an appeal hearing would likely be set within 30 days.
Dothan police Chief Greg Benton has said Gray's firing was the result of an extensive investigation and that Gray had violated department policies. Benton says Gray's alleged violations were "intolerable offenses."
Benton has said Gray's firing was related to the investigation of a reported assault of two men outside a nightclub. But he has said Gray wasn't at the nightclub when the assault happened.
Benton has declined to give more specific reasons.
