BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- Adam Hasner and former West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel are battling in a newly drawn congressional district that stretches from Boca Raton to Fort Lauderdale.
Hasner is a charismatic former Florida House majority leader who has tried to cast himself as a moderate who is able to work across the aisle. He says both parties are to blame for the mess in Washington. He supports Paul Ryan's voucher plan for Medicare and lowering corporate income tax rates.
Frankel has capitalized on his Medicare stance, warning voters in an area filled with retirees that Hasner is trying to gut Medicare.
The two are running in District 22, which Republican Congressman Allen West abandoned after redistricting changed the area from a toss-up to one that tilts Democratic.
