MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- A judge has dismissed child sex charges against a former Mobile County prosecutor who handled child sex crimes.
WKRG-TV reports that a judge threw out the case against Steve Giardini. He was charged with attempting to entice a child.
An FBI agent posed as a 15-year-old girl in Internet chat rooms and had phone conversations with Giardini for more than three months.
During a 2011 trial, Giardini's attorney said conversations with the agent may have been inappropriate, but they were not illegal.
A judge declared a mistrial after a jury deliberated for hours and failed to deliver a verdict.
