Skydiving Mishap

DELAND, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say a 62-year-old skydiver suffered serious injuries in a rough landing in central Florida.
Police say Michael Trusser of DeLand possibly hit a vehicle as he landed Saturday afternoon in a Volusia County Schools bus terminal. Trusser was taken to a hospital by helicopter.
Sgt. Chris Estes tells The Daytona Beach News-Journal that Trusser's parachute had a "hard opening" that caused him to fall too quickly.
A 73-year-old man died in separate skydiving accident Saturday in northeast Florida.
Police say Lawrence Elmore of Keystone Heights died when his main parachute failed to open when he jumped at Palatka Municipal Airport. Officers say Elmore's reserve parachute did not open in time.
