Trial in 1981 Killing Likely Won't Be Until 2015

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) -- A Houston County judge says the trial for a man accused of a 1981 killing likely won't happen until the spring of 2015.
The Dothan Eagle reports that Circuit Court Judge Michael Conaway heard several court motions from attorneys Monday afternoon in the capital murder case against 60-year-old Nathaniel Dennis.
Dennis was arrested in 2012 after police investigators said DNA evidence connected him to the shooting death of Earnest Russell Douglas during a robbery at a Dothan Amoco station.
After hearing arguments from prosecutors and defense lawyers, Conaway agreed to set a pre-trial hearing to determine the admissibility of the two pieces of physical evidence in the case against Dennis -- a stocking and a piece of hair found inside the stocking.
