JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) -- The trial has begun for a Clayton County teenager charged in the shooting death of a sheriff's deputy last July.
Authorities say 17-year-old Johnathan Bun is charged with murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and other offenses in the death of Deputy Richard Daly. Daly was trying to arrest Bun for an armed robbery from earlier that year when the teen shot the deputy July 20, 2011.
Authorities say Bun led police on a six-hour manhunt.
Bun's attorney, Lloyd Matthews, asked that the trial be moved to another county, but the request was denied. The teen was held in the Clayton County jail but he was moved to Henry County after his mother complained that guards were threatening him.
His trial began Monday in Clayton County just south of Atlanta.
