It’s a busy day for Mike Frimet; he spends much of his time underneath the hood of your car.
"I'm not the kind of 'sit-down at the desk' kind of guy, I like to move around..."
From fixing a flat to changing the oil-- Frimet and his crew are hands-on, certified--car doctors.
"Of course you come here when your car doesn't start, overheating, air conditioner isn't cooling," said Frimet. "We do generally auto repair on just about everything. Mostly domestic and foreign cars, of course we do maintenance, auto repairs, preventative maintenance, just about everything..."
So many changes have taken place in the auto industry over the years, not to mention the cars. From under the hood--to the dashboard, the digital age has turned today's mechanics into technicians.
"You have to be sharp, cars are very difficult to fix, and you have to really enjoy it because it's hard work."
Which also means the shop is equipped with the latest up-to-date technology.
."Everything has gone digital and it's internet based, and we have a wireless network and my techs have laptops and they can help them repair any data to repair cars. It’s the closest thing to a crystal ball, it's a piece of diagnostic equipment, and we couldn't get by without it
Being an auto-technician isn't for everyone. .
"It's hot, its cold, we work outside, basically you bust your hands, its' difficult." Cars are getting more and more difficult to repair and sometimes that can be a bit of a headache. Every day it's a challenge, different problem, and you get to be outside, you get to meet a lot of people and interact with a lot of good folks."
After all these years', Frimet says he's used to getting his hands dirty...
"That might be a downside, but it's a good honest living...there's nothing wrong with getting a little dirty, that's what soap is for..."
Frimet says his love for cars began early on. He opened up Frimet to Z on the west end of the beach nearly ten years ago.
