Task Force: Says They're "Not Another Rescue Mission"
Members of the Community Resource Task Force are making it clear the organization will not be providing food and shelter for the homeless.

Panama City -- Members of the Community Resource Task Force are making it clear the organization will not be providing food and shelter for the homeless.
During Thursday’s meeting, members agreed they want to build a Community Resource Center to provide opportunities for people in need. The Resource Center would provide development programs for the homeless. The ultimate goal will be to help them find employment and permanent housing, but they say they do not want to be thought of as just another Rescue Mission.
"We're pleased to announced, we're going to be a transformational facility. We call it a campus we people can come and we're going to help people help themselves, help the poor and the homeless help themselves that's what we're going to be about" said Marilyn Fenimore, Resource Development Communications spokesperson.
The Task Force are also planning to meet with the Panama City Rescue Mission’s Board of Directors to discuss future opportunities.

If you're going to get tax dollars don't you need to actually help some one. There's already a unemployment center. Come in fill out applications and wait to go on job interviews. The home less need a place to hang their hat.You can't get a job if theres no where for some one to get in touch with you or you have no address. I think this is just a help ME organization not a help them. It's always ME first isn't it, when it should be THEM.
I'd love to help! I think this is great- Thank you, some one has seen the problem and is fixing it and not going to make it harder. Some times things are hard and you need help but, do not know where to go or have some one to turn too. This is a great program. Help those in need cause one day they will help some one else. A lot of homeless do not have family, love and support help them rather than treat them like dirt.
Ken, the rescue mission does use tax dollars that have been massaged through grant programs. Dont be fooled. This article tickles us with the idea of what the facility will not be but does nothing in telling it waht it WILL be. It needs to have the capacity to feed and home so as to take those services away from teh rescue mission as the exclusive provider. Once thse services can be provided by another facility in a way that is not destructive to downtonw then the rescue mission becomes obsolete, their funding dries up, rescue mission management loses their cash cow. Wouldnt it be a "shame" that Billy Fox would lose his $75,000 a year job expoiting the homeless?
