A world famous recording artist is helping the South Walton Tourist Development Council sell the area.
Walton County -- Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles tailored the song titled “This is the Place” to represent the lifestyle of South Walton.
The South Walton Tourist Development Council (TDC) paid Hoffs 75,000 for the song using BP marketing grant money. The deal gives the TDC rights to the song for seven years. The licensing agreement allows the TDC to use it for video and online promotion and marketing fro the “Visit South Walton” campaign.
The response to the sound has been good so far.
Susanna Hoff will perform the song live during the 30A Songwriters Festival on January 13-15 in South Walton.

If a naitonal aritist helps bring tourists from around the nation, why not take advantage of the opportunity? The song has a fun hook and she's a great singer/writer; the song will help keep what we all love about Florida in people's minds. Thanks to the tourist board's recent smart investments in promotion, the local tourist industry is back, and so are the jobs and salaries that came back with it.
This cost $75,000!!!! Why was local talent not sought out for this? Many local performers lost revune due to the spill. They should have been approached and provided an opportunity to recover. Dread Clampit, Zach R. and others were all screwed by the TDC.
BP? Funding the arts? ART NOT OIL ...allowing them to fund music and art feeds the greed...Our artistic endeavors should be free of polluting money.
