Four students from Sneads High School are the best in the country for creating a business model.
More than 7,000 groups from around the nation competed in a virtual environment fundraiser. The students had to organize a festival for a simulated community, planning everything from hiring entertainment to securing food venders.
The team that raised the most money from the virtual event won the competition. One of the Sneads teams raised more than half a millions came, good enough for third place.
Third place team member Rachel Pelt says the third place honor is just part of what they gained.
"The purpose of the competitions was to learn about business and raise money for the United Way."
Pelt and her three teammates received $125. Sneads High received $500, and the United Way of Northwest Florida got $1,000.
Ten teams entered the competition from Sneads High. Four of Sneads’ 10 entries placed in the top 300.
