Panama City - Bay Haven Charter Academy might increase it's elementary and middle school enrollment by 15%.

The school's CEO says they have not made a decision yet but notified Bay District School's of the possibility in order to meet a deadline enforced by state law. The change would increase the elementary school by 90 students and the middle school by 67 students.

Bay District School's superintendent says students changing schools could affect the district staff, but it's too soon too tell how much.

Bay Haven Charter Academy is expected to make a decision in their February board meeting.

While I don't begrudge Bay Havens desire to increase enrollment, they certainly should keep the District involved from the very beginning. Since Bay Havens decisions will impact the overall district they shouldn't be making unilateral decisions. Bay Haven seems to ride a pretty high horse sometimes. They must rememeber that even though they are a charter school they must still play ball with the district.
