Panama City - This week's Golden Apple award winner is a third grade teacher at Cherry Street Elementary in the Cove.

Music and motion. Two tools Amanda Roberts uses to teach all kinds of subjects in her third grade classroom. On this day it's a lesson in prefixes and suffixes. "My kids know we dance, we move, we are collaborative and we work together to increase our learning," said teacher Amanda Roberts.

Roberts is in her fourth year in the classroom, but colleagues say her skills are that of a longtime teacher. "She has a very warm, caring climate in her room, each of her children know that they are loved and accepted and she will do her best for them," said Principal Jean Olson. "She makes learning fun" said Kylie Smith. "She lets us play games when we learn," said Dvorik Blackmon.

Roberts has a unique perspective on her position as a teacher. "I just feel like the students are my employers. I feel like I am here to work for them and to meet their needs, I'm here to present them with strategies and skills to become independent learners," said Roberts.

Congratulations to Amanda Roberts this week's Golden Apple award winning teacher. "She is the best," said Danyel' Smith.
