Springfield - This week's Golden Apple award winner is a third grade teacher at Springfield Elementary school. Not one, not two, but four students nominated Crystal Adams for the Golden Apple.
In Ms. Adams classroom students learn the difference between fact and fiction, game show style. It's just one of the ways she gets her third graders excited about learning. "She taught us how to multiply and she is starting to teach us division," said student David Reeves.
Learning stations are a big hit with her students, so she uses them to teach nearly every subject. "She makes learning really fun. She teaches us reading, math, and science. Science is really fun because she lets us cut and glue things to paper," said Jamie Griffin.
She also encourages parent involvement by nurturing relationships with her students' families. "Parent involvement is important because it's directly linked to student performance. If parents value education, their children will too," said Ms. Adams. "It's all about relationships, building those relationships and just having a connection with the parents and the students. She is great at that, one of the best," said Springfield Elementary Principal Harriet Taylor.
Congratulations to Crystal Adams, this week's Golden Apple award-winning teacher. "When my students leave I hope they know they are the best of the best at achieving success. I hope they are leaders, independent learners, and I hope they always believe in themselves."
