-New NWF State men's basketball coach Steve Forbes now facing some NCAA sanctions, but those sanctions won't affect his tenure in Niceville!

There's some news regarding new Northwest Florida State men's basketball coach Steve Forbes. Forbes came to Niceville after a stint as an assistant to Tennessee Head Coach Bruce Pearl, who recently lost that job because of NCAA violations. Wednesday the NCAA hit Pearl with a three year "show cause" penalty in the wake of those violations. Forbes and two other assistants, Jason Shay who was recently hired as a Raiders assistant under Forbes, and Tony Jones all hit with one year "show cause" penalties.
That means any NCAA program that hires them has to abide by serious restrictions regarding recruiting and evaluating talent.
As it is, since Forbes and Shay are coaching on the juco level, under the NJCAA, this penalty has no bearing on their recruiting or their status at Northwest Florida State. In fact that school putting out a statement Wednesday reading quote "the penalty has no bearing on their ability to recruit and sign the best players to Northwest Florida State! Coach Forbes and Coach Shay are 100% unaffected by this ruling and it's a closed issue as far as we are concerned." unquote.
