To the water now and a look ahead the Sandestin Celebration Fishing Tournament, a spinoff if you will of the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic which had to cancelled because of the oil spill.
Tournament Director Shawna Meisner tells us they're currently talking with several fishing teams, many have already signed up, and the hope is they'll get to 40 boats for the tourney which will take place August 25-through the 29th.
The stated mission of this event to celebrate the now favorable conditions in the Gulf, and to bring the fishing and boating community together to show the region's open for both tourism and fishing.
To attract as many boats as possible, the entry fee's been reduced to a thousand bucks, and there will be an under 35 foot boat division and and over 35. Like the E-C-B-C, they will fish for blue marlin, tuna, wahoo and dolphin, but unlike the big tourney they'll also fish for swordfish, grouper, amberjack and king mackeral.
