It certainly is tough to repeat in the SEC, and even tougher as national champs! One reason why, you never know when injuries are going to strike, and to whom. Well Alabama's now dealing with a rather significant blow concerning their Heisman winner, junior running back Mark Ingram.
At the very least, he'll miss Saturday's opener against visiting San Jose State, after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday morning.
Ingram suffered an undisclosed knee injury late in Monday's practice, and Alabama coach Nick Saban says they wasted little time in dealing with that injury. Saban today saying quote "it's a situation where everyone thought it would be better to take care of now, so he would not have any issues with it later in the season." unquote. Saban not saying
Ingram rushed for over 16 hundred yards last season, scored 20 td's. He could miss game two against Penn State and beyond, he'll be week to week after the opener.
The good news is Bama is deep at the position, sophomore Trent Richardson rushed for 751 yards as a backup last year, he's a big time runner, and then there's redshirt freshman Eddie Lacey. We'll let you hear directly from coach Saban on this tonight at ten.
